The “Combined Defence Services” (CDS) Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). Required Qualification:
For Naval Academy B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics of Bachelor of Engineering is required.
For India Military Academy IMA and Officer Training Academy OTA candidate must have graduation degree from any recognized institute or university.
For Air Force Academy Bachelor degree in engineering, technology or 12th Standard passed in physics and Mathematics from any recognized institute or university is required.
Age Limit:
Air Force Academy: 19-23 years
Indian Military Academy (IMA): 19-24 years
Naval Academy: 19-22 years
Officers Training Academy (OTA): 19-25 years
Note: For the above mentioned posts all the candidates should be unmarried.

Subject English:
English is so important subject which contains 100 marks. In this subject candidates will get objective type of questions. This subject usually contains questions about Synonyms, Antonyms, Grammar, prepositions, spotting the correct sentence etc. For the better preparation you should follow the following instruction.
- Candidates can solve past papers to aware about the questions and answers. These will also helpful in future tests.
- To get preparation of the English subject and command in language you should make a habit of reading English newspaper on daily basis. Newspaper contains all the information about daily current affairs and which improve your general knowledge and your vocabulary.

Subject Elementary Mathematics:
The other important subject is Elementary Mathematics which contains 100 marks. The objective type paper contains question about Geometry, Arithmetic, Algebra, Mensuration and Basic statistics. All the questions and answers are on the metric basis.

- Candidates should go early to bed and early to rise. because sleeplessness causes serious issues like stomach problems i.e. ulcer, acidity and other disease.
- Candidates should go for a morning walk and take exercise by which they become healthy and have fresh mind.
- For the inner peace you can take yoga only half an hour early in the morning.
