The “Combined Defence Services” (CDS) Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). Required Qualification:

For Naval Academy B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics of Bachelor of Engineering is required.

For India Military Academy IMA and Officer Training Academy OTA candidate must have graduation degree from any recognized institute or university.

For Air Force Academy Bachelor degree in engineering, technology or 12th Standard passed in physics and Mathematics from any recognized institute or university is required.

Age Limit:

Air Force Academy: 19-23 years

Indian Military Academy (IMA): 19-24 years

Naval Academy: 19-22 years

Officers Training Academy (OTA): 19-25 years

Note: For the above mentioned posts all the candidates should be unmarried.

CDS Examination Syllabus & Paper Pattern:

Subject English:

English is so important subject which contains 100 marks. In this subject candidates will get objective type of questions.
